State Appreciates Support from Private Sector
BATON ROUGE, LA – Today, Wal-Mart announced a $250,000 donation to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for state recovery efforts.
“We are very appreciative of Wal-Mart’s generous contribution to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to provide relief to thousands of Louisianians affected by Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike,” said Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. “The support from corporate leaders like Wal-Mart, and non-profit and community leaders throughout our state and the country is truly remarkable and continuing to make a real difference in helping our people get back on their feet after these storms.”
"When Louisiana asked Wal-Mart to assist in getting our "Get a Game Plan" message out to the public for hurricane preparedness, Wal-Mart aired our Public Service Announcements on televisions throughout South Louisiana stores. Now they're contributing $250,000 to the recovery effort. We are proud to have this corporate partnership with Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart continues to give support to the citizens of Louisiana and we appreciate their commitment to this state," said Mark Cooper, Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
