RETURN OF UNUSED MRE’s

Baton Rouge, LA, September 10, 2008 – Per the request of Governor Bobby Jindal, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is asking anyone who has unused Meals Ready to Eat (MRE’s) to return them to their local Office of Emergency Preparedness, Food Bank or other non-profit agencies such as the American Red Cross.

According to statistics provided by FEMA, 7,634,469 MRE’s were provided to shelters and Points of Distribution (PODS) across the state to be handed out. The Governor says any unused MRE’s can be used for future disasters or by those who may still be without electricity and/or unable to access food.
